Clubfoot, hallux valgus, quintus varus… there are several common foot deformities. Among these, the most well-known are flat and hollow feet, two conditions that have to be properly treated to avoid chronic pain problems.
We identify a flat foot when the arch of the foot has very little or no curvature. The associated pains appear in the foot, ankle, knee or even the back. Maintaining a healthy body weight, rehabilitation and wearing plantar orthotics can help correct a flat foot or at least, reduce its scale.
Inversely, the hollow foot is characterized by an excessive curvature of the arch of the foot. It can be identified by rapid wear of the shoes, an imbalance when walking and arch pain . Choosing an appropriate footwear, adapted to your needs is the key for people affected.
These deformities are usually benign, however do not let them progress. For expert advice and tailored solutions, consult your podiatrist.
