Winter sports: Good habits for the well being of your feet

Share

January 20, 2017

Winter is in full swing, this means that it is now time to practice our favourite winter sports. Whether you enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country or alpine skiing, skating or hockey, it is important to choose the appropriate footwear.

Make sure you wear proper socks that will keep your feet dry, which will also prevent them from freezing while avoiding frostbites.  Following your activity, replace your socks in order not to remain with wet feet.

If applicable, it is essential to wear your plantar orthotics to practice these sports.  Whether it is in your skates or ski boots, no matter the sport your are taking part, your feet will be solicited and it is crucial for you to be comfortable.

Also, take time to carefully warm you up, to ensure that all your muscles are prepared for the practice of your favourite sport.  After exercising, always remember to stretch (sole of the feet, calves, quadriceps and hamstrings).

Experience winter and have a very good time !
