Did you know that no medical reference is required to make an appointment and/or to consult a podiatrist ?  As for the dentist or the chiropractor, the podiatrist is a health professional practising in the private sector.

Since it is a private sector, the podiatric fees are not reimbursed by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ).  However, most of the private insurance plans generally reimburse in whole or in part the inherent fees.

All you need to do is to verify with your insurance company.  Many of these companies require a medical prescription for orthotics. Your podiatrist is able to prescribe and manufacture orthotics.  So, following a biomechanical evaluation, he will prepare the necessary prescription for your orthotics.
